Diploma in Environmental Sciences (D.E.S):
We are designing the requirements for a Diploma in Environmental
Sciences (D.E.S.) to be given by the Institute to qualified applicants
worldwide with a good record of accomplishments (i.e., publications, project
management, consulting, etc.). We are creating a D.E.S. Evaluation Board
(DES/EB) that will finalize the requirements and evaluate the applicants.

On a worldwide basis, higher education today does not provide flexible
options for large segments of the population. Above-average students, for
example, are often slowed down in programs designed for average students,
where these programs do not encourage independent learning. Working professionals
and executives also find it difficult to complete or expand their university
studies and obtain proper recognition for recently-performed on-the-job
R&D. Finally, education costs are growing out of control, due in part
to bureaucratic and administration growth.
A need exists to provide alternative teaching methods for higher education.
These new methods are possible today thanks to the newest revolution in
telecommunicatins (e.g., the Internet World Wide Web) and the availability
of new computer-based tools (e.g., electronic books and computer-based
courses). The EnviroComp Institute aims at using state-of-the-art
telecommunciation techniques to provide top-quality higher education in
environmental sciences and environmental computing to a large segment of
international students and working professionals.
A typical EnviroComp Institute course will require remote Internet-based
interactions between the student and one or more Institute teachers and
teacher assistants. Independent learning, use of electronic books, videotapes,
etc. will be encouraged. Examinations will be performed using electronic
techniques and reliable remote identification tools.
If you are interested in following Internet-based courses, please reply.
Our goal is to provide top-quality education using the most advanced
telecommunication techniques. We aim at attracting above-average students,
working professionals, and executives with a flexible educational program
based upon the highest standards. We intend to minimize bureacracy and
administration costs and pass the savings to the students.
