1. Why do we need the EnviroComp Institute?
Environmental Sciences - intended as the study of generation, transport, fate, and effects of anthropogenic pollution - are a relatively new discipline which has grown enormously in the last 30 years. In spite of this growth, many universities do not provide a degree in environmental sciences and environmental courses are given under different departments. Many professional and scientific associations and Institutes cover environmental topics and R&D activities. However, we do not have an International Institute specifically dedicated to environmental sciences which focus on the needs of environmental scientists throughout the world. Through the Internet, the EnviroComp Institute intends to provide a "home" and useful programs and services to environmental scientists, engineers, managers, consultants, and decision-makers throughout the world.
2. What are the activities of the EnviroComp Institute?
The EnviroComp Institute will create an electronic forum for scientists,
managers, engineers, and professionals. The EnviroComp Institute will
provide a growing amount of information on progress in environmental sciences,
projects, studies, laws & regulations, meetings, conferences, etc.
The EnviroComp Institute Web site will provide useful summaries and
pointers to other sites, thus facilitating the search for environmental
data and information. The EnviroComp Institute will also publish electronic
books and reports and sponsor events such as conferences, meetings, and
international collaborations. More importantly, the EnviroComp Institute
intends to play a leading role in providing professional recognition
of environmental scientists and Internet-based environmental education.
3. Why do we need a Diploma in the Environmental Sciences?
Many environmental scientists today are physicists, chemists, nuclear
engineers, etc. In spite of an often long and successful career, their
University degree is often unrelated to their main field of investigation.
The EnviroComp Institute intends to provide qualified applicants with
a Diploma in Environmental Sciences (D.E.S.) in recognition of professional
achievements such as publications, project management, consulting, etc.
4. Why do we need Internet-based environmental
courses?
The Internet is changing the way people learn and gather information.
It is relatively easy today, for a University professor or an expert in
the industry or the government, to prepare a set of interactive lessons
on virtually any technical topic. It is clear that the future of advanced
education is Internet-based. This revolution will provide students worldwide
with high-quality remote learning tools, flexible study time, and top teachers
at affordable costs. The EnviroComp Institute intends to become the
leading Institute in providing Internet-based environmental courses. Eventually,
the EnviroComp Institute will provide the proper umbrella for the organization
of these courses under a formal M.Sc. program and other post-graduate programs.
5. How do I join your network?
