Nicolas Moussiopoulos is a Full Professor at the Aristotle University Thessaloniki and the Director of the Laboratory of Heat Transfer and Environmental Engineering. He is also a Honorary Professor at the School of Mechanical Engineering of the Universitaet Karlsruhe. His research work deals primarily with the development of atmospheric wind and dispersion/chemistry models and their application at the local-to-regional scale. Over more than one decade he was actively involved in EUROTRAC, the Eureka atmospheric environmental project: In the last six years he was a member of the project’s Scientific Steering Committee and the co-ordinator of SATURN, the subproject dealing with the local and urban scales. He co-ordinated several large international research projects and is the author of more than 300 scientific publications, among them more than 80 in peer-reviewed journals. Professor Moussiopoulos is a member of the German Academy of Natural Scientists Leopoldina and 2002 he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
