Paolo Zannetti received his Doctor Degree in Physics from the University of Padua, Italy, in 1970 and was awarded the title of Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP) in 1994. Throughout his professional career, he has performed scientific and environmental research and managed environmental projects, specializing in air pollution and environmental modeling and software.
Dr. Zannetti has authored more than 200 publications, most of them appearing in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. In particular, he wrote in 1990 the first comprehensive textbook on Air Pollution Modeling.
Since 1996, he has been the Founding President of EnviroComp - the International Institute of Environmental Sciences and Environmental Computing - an Internet-based Institute and software laboratory dedicated to the study of environmental sciences and pollution phenomena. Also, he was recently nominated Regional Coordinator for the Institute of Professional Environmental Practice (IPEP) in the San Francisco Bay Area.
His professional experience covers consulting work, teaching, research and development studies, project management, editorial activities, and expert testimony.
He has taught at

- the University of Taranto, Italy
He has done research and development studies working at
- the IBM scientific centers of Venice, Italy; Palo Alto, California; and Bergen, Norway;

- ENEL-CRTN, Milan, Italy; and
- the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, KISR, where he managed a large, 2-year international research project.
He has performed consulting activities working at
- AeroVironment, Inc., Monrovia, California;
- IBM Semea, Milan, Italy;
- Exponent, Inc., Menlo Park, California; and currently at
- EnviroComp Consulting, Inc.
Among his several editorial activities, he is
- the Founding Editor of the Elsevier journal Environmental Software;
- a member of the Editorial Board of Ecological Modeling;
- the Founder and Director of the biennial conference ENVIROSOFT;
- one of the Founders of the conference cycle AIR POLLUTION;
- the Editor of the book series Environmental Modeling
Among his most recent consulting projects, Dr. Zannetti has been
- the leader of the team who has developed for CAMRAQ and EPRI the framework design and the first prototype of the Comprehensive Modeling System (CMS) for air pollution;
- the project manager for the development of the Intermittent Control System (ICS) for the city of Ilo, Peru;
- a key scientific expert for the investigation of a series of accidental releases from refinery facilities in California, New Jersey, and Louisiana
